• Deactivated my Twitter/X

From Digital Man@VERT to All on Wed Feb 5 18:15:00 2025
I guess this could be arguably politics/debate, but I just wanted to mention *somewhere* that I deactivated my Twitter/X account (@digitlman) last night. No big loss. I would occassionally post new YT video notices or software release announcements there, but that's about it.

I just couldn't stand the thought that my account was somehow adding to the numbers that supported Elon Musk and own private BBS/platform. Fuck that guy.
I encourage you to consider doing the same...

    same...

I just stopped using it or clicking on
any links to it since requiring to log
in for almost everything (almost.. you
can still read linked Xweets or
whatever). Fuck logging in to web stuff
:D. And I haven't had it on my phone or
    other devices since they stopped
allowing 3rd party apps however long
    ago.

Really, though, fuck all that social
    media crap altogether.

big loss. I would occassionally post new YT video notices or software release announcements there, but that's about it.

That was the only reason I got a Twitter account to begin with... to post
YT video notices... but I did eventually get to following a few accounts,
like MeTV, Fleisher Cartoons, and the Onion.

I stopped posting notices a while back.

I just couldn't stand the thought that my account was somehow adding to the numbers that supported Elon Musk and own private BBS/platform. Fuck that guy. I encourage you to consider doing the same...

His buying it didn't bother me at all, and I admit somewhat enjoying the exposure of "shadow banning" and the outing of the antifa kiddie porn rings that soon followed. I have never really cared for him as a person, though,
and the idea of him being involved in government is not to my liking.

There is a newish, Twitter-like platform called BlueSky. Most of the
accounts I was following on X either cross-post to BlueSky or have moved
    over all together. https://bsky.app

I partially agree with you and even though I rairly post anything on X, I use it to see the 'real' news via videos that don't seem to appear anywhere else.

and it blocked people because they had an opinion on the covid vaccine but let global terrorists use twitter.

he's a fucking huge asshole and I don't like him as a person, but i also have not met him nor know him.

he seems to get things done when in charge, though.
bluesky has been around for years.

but do any of us who don't like x/twitter really WANT to use another micro blogging platform? dont all the social media networks essentially do what micro blogging does?

Yeah, I guess so. I'm actually fine with Twitter, it's X/Elon that I can't stand.

and it blocked people because they had an opinion on the covid vaccine but let global terrorists use twitter.

No moderation is perfect, but I really didn't investigate it.

you shouldn't encourage anybody to do anything. they can make their own decisions. why do they need encouragement?

They don't. I guess what I meant to say was: reconsider your Twitter/X account - if you don't really need/want and would like to see Elon eat shit sooner than later, consider deactivating your account. That's all.

If you like/use X/Twitter and don't mind supporting Elon's enterprise, by all means, keep the account.

just look into it a little bit. it was nuts what they were doing.
they were trying to manipulate people and create hate and division.

They don't. I guess what I meant to say was: reconsider your Twitter/X account - if you don't really need/want and would like to see Elon eat shit sooner than later, consider deactivating your account. That's all.

so why do you want to boycott this guy but say nothing about companies like blackrock who are truly evil and people like bill gates who are sick pedophiles who want to destroy the world for your children and children's children.

i'm not even a conspiracy nut. but there's a lot more worse stuff out there than elon. I think you're being manipulated by the media and you need to look at why they are doing it.

Power over people is true power, and that is what the media and these large companies work towards. They want you to think a certain way and act a certain way. by boycotting 'x' and talking badly about elon, you are doing exactly what they want everyone to do. Now, why is that?

I think you just contradicted yourself. :-)

I really didn't intend to make this a debate. Just remind folks: if you have a Twitter/X account, you're helping Elon's empire (even minutely), and if you don't want to do that, consider deactivating the account. That's all.

but do any of us who don't like x/twitter really WANT to use another micro blogging platform?

I guess that depends on why you use X or, more importantly, why you'd be dumping it. If you are getting sick of social media in general, then the answer would be no for sure. If you use it to follow a few sources you
don't seem to find (easily anyway) on other platforms, you might.

I don't check BS daily. Probably more like once a week, similar to how
    often I check X.

dont all the social media networks essentially do what
    micro blogging does?

I presume that they mostly do.

Nowadays, leaving X is a political declaration and it will be recognized as such. You may as well place a Yes we Can sticker on the back of your truck. Calling a Deer a Horse and all that, if somebody bothers to remember.

I think he means Blackrock, the finantial company that likes shorting on Telefonica stocks so the market value of the firm is bellow 80% of its actual book value. Which is a sure means to flag them as motherfuckers.
